
The Founding Physician and President of The Foundation for Developmental Medicine, Inc. is Jon Michnovicz, MD, PhD. Known universally as "Dr. Jon," he has dedicated the whole of his professional life to the prevention of illness, and to the practice of Developmental Medicine.
Dr. Michnovicz currently works with eight major institutions to provide primary medical care to thousands of individuals in the greater New York metropolitan area. These institutions include: Metro Community Health Centers, Inc., the Blanche Kahn Family Health Center (operated by HASC), United Cerebral Palsy of New York City (UCP/NYC, Inc.,) YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities, Inc., Premier HealthCare Inc., Services for the Underserved, Inc., Mercy Home, Inc., and Birch Family Services, Inc.
In April, 2002, Dr. Michnovicz was awarded a grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for a project entitled, "UCP/NYC's Breast Health Project for Women with Disabilities." In addition, Dr. Jon wrote and produced two healthcare training videos for the Developmental Disability community, entitled "Removing Barriers to Mammography for Women with Physical Disabilities," and "The Challenge of Osteoporosis for People with Disabilities."
Dr. Michnovicz has served on numerous medical research committees. He was Chairman of the Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics section for the US Army Breast Cancer Research Project, and a member of the Diet and Cancer Branch of the National Cancer Institute.
